I object to the steep increase in the base service charge. This disproportionately puts a larger burden on the customers least able to afford electricity. Just a few short years ago, there was no such charge. In fact, the bill used to be an electricity charge, a fuel adjustment, and taxes. Now, there are line items for everything under the sun. Before, we freely donated to a Winter Care fund. Now, we are forced to contribute to a similar fund. Even though I am a PPL shareholder, these frequent increases irritate me. KU needs to make its money from selling electricity for a reasonable rate, not adding or inflating new items on its bills.
